How To Use Spyware Elimination Software

by: Philippa Smith
Spyware elimination software is designed to detect and
eliminate spyware. A large number of spyware elimination
software products are available. Some of them are available
as freeware and some as shareware. Shareware can be used
for a specified period, usually 30 days.

One must evaluate and compare the features of different
spyware elimination software products before selecting one.
Some of the features of an effective spyware elimination
software product are:

* It should give a list of detected spyware, to enable
users to allow them to decide, about which ones they want
to delete.
* Auto update ensures that the software automatically
downloads the latest spyware definition file.
* Auto scheduling means that the system is scanned for
spyware at defined intervals automatically.
* The "undo" facility allows the user to remedy accidental
deletion of useful files.
* The product should provide real-time protection. It
should prevent installation of spyware, instead of just
deleting it when it is detected.
* The software should be effective in detecting and
deleting, the different types of spyware.
* The product should be easy to download, install, navigate
and use.
* Product support ensures that there is someone you can
call or e-mail, whenever you have a problem.
* The right spyware elimination software will ensure your
privacy and keep your computer free of advertisements.

Some of the most popular spyware elimination software
products are: Spyware Eliminator, Spyware Doctor, MS
AntiSpyware, McAfee, Pest Patrol, Spy Sweeper, Counterspy,
Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy etc.

The most popular personal firewalls include McAfee
Firewall, Norman Firewall, Windows Firewall, Surf Secret,
Sygate Firewall, Zone Alarm, Outpost Pro, and Norton
Firewall etc.

Spyware Eliminator

Spyware Eliminator is one of the most popular spyware
elimination software products. It also provides you with
anti-virus and anti-Spam capability and prevents malicious
software from entering your PC.

It gives users specific threat recommendations and its
consumer ware facility identifies legitimate ad ware
companies and their software. The user then has the option
to delete this software or to keep it. Spyware Eliminator
is particularly effective in dealing with cleverly
concealed, self re-generating spyware and adware.

Link Directory Software

by: Henry James

Link directory is the place on the internet where various web players maintain their links for free to exchange links or trade purposes. In fact it is an easy and effective way for the link seeking websites to sight their links. The internet has thousands of web sites where you can submit a link. But you have to meet certain standards to submit your links to these web sites. Link directory software is the right tool for you to create an impressive link directory. And an impressive link directory is the gateway to the top rankings from the major search engines.

The link directory software sets up the link directory for you on a web server. The quality of your link directory depends on the software used by you for the installation process. You will find a number of software in the market place. Software is considered to be good or bad by the scripting language it has. The whole software functions and features on the software script.

The link directory software built in PHP script is considered as the best in the field. You can get the PHP script software from any of the software stores in your vicinity. The most striking feature of the PHP script link directory software is that it can be set up on all the operating systems. The operating systems can be Windows operating system, Linux or even UNIX. According to a recent survey by an IT journal in the US, most of the website owners use a Windows operating system to set up a link directory.

The link directory software enables you to choose a great template for your link directory. The software can make your link directory interesting and attractive. You can choose from a number of colors to set the back ground colors of the template. You are capable of changing the colors of the text as well. Different categories of links can also be assigned different colors. This makes your link directory interesting to the visitors. It also gets quite easier for the visitors to locate and select the links, differentiated via colors.

A few software support you with endless categories of links. This implies that you can create as many categories of links as you want. A majority of software support built in categories but you can customize them as well. If you do not need a category, you can disable it.

Apart from maintaining a list of different types of links, the link directory software also helps you to manage your links in a better way. Whenever a link is added to your website, it will automatically be added to the link directory. You will also come to know the summary of the performance of a particular link.

So all these benefits and much more, you can access via link directory software. In fact you can very easily install this software on your computer to develop a link directory.

Twelve Things You Should Know to Save on Computer Software

by: Larry Andrew

Do you want to get quality software at a reasonable price? Whether you work at home or just need good software for your personal computer, you are faced with an almost endless selection of computer software. Sorting through the options can sometimes be a major task. However, if you want to get good, quality software there are several things that you can do that will save you money and headaches.

With the arrival of online marketing, you have more choices than ever. There are a large number of reputable software companies that sell software at significant savings. With a little homework and thought on your part, you can get good quality software that will accomplish your specific task.

In order to save both time and money on computer software, here is a list of twelve things you should do.

1. First, make sure you know as closely as possible the exact task you want your software to accomplish. The more specific you are the better. For example, do you want a very general word processing program to write occasional letters or a more sophisticated word processing software program to run the marketing for your business?

2. Check out the minimum requirements necessary to run the software. You want to make sure it will run on your computer equipment. You should find out how much memory the program takes, what operating systems it will run on and how much disk space is required. Is there any other computer accessory required to use the software?

3. Talk to friends and associates that have used the specific type of software you’re searching for. Ask them where they got the software, how much they paid, how long they’ve used the program, what type of guarantee came with the program, etc. If you have a task, which involves a deadline, like a payroll program, ask them how they were able to get answers to their questions and how long did it take.

4. Search the Internet for reviews on the software. Look at user groups or bulletin boards to see what users are saying about the software. For example, if you’re looking at the QuickBooks business program, type in “QuickBooks Software Review” to locate review information about the program.

5. You should always test the software program before you purchase it. Many reputable companies will allow you to download their software and test it out before you buy. Take advantage of the opportunity to test the program. Enter some data, print some reports, and give the program a real workout. Try as many options as possible. Don’t always follow set procedures. Try to experiment on your own. You want to know what the software does in a real world setting. You want to know what happens when you make a mistake.
6. If the software provides support, you should think of a question about the program that may not be too obvious and ask support for help. You’re much better off to try out support before you truly need help than to wait until you’re in a “must have help” situation. See how long it takes to get an answer. Check out how clear the response is. Ask yourself, “Did this completely resolve the problem for me?”

7. Check out the software warranty and company guarantees. A software company that stands behind their program will usually guarantee their products for a specific period of time. You should get at least a 30-day money back guarantee after purchasing the product. A 90-180 day guarantee is better. Usually, the longer the product warranty, the better the software.
8. Find out how often the company provides updates to their software. Check out the cost for getting the updates. For example, many companies will include updates for a specific period of time with the purchase price of the software. Companies that actively listen to their users update their software. If a computer program has not been updated for a long time, you probably won’t get further updates.

9. If you get a “Freeware” software program, you need to know four things:
First, freeware is a software program that does not cost you any money. That means you will not be able to receive support from the author. You are basically on your own. Sometimes that is good. However, if you have a time sensitive task and run into a software problem, free software may not be your best option. If you miss a deadline and have to pay a penalty of some type, that free software isn’t so cheap after all.
Second, many times freeware is an “introductory” version of a program. That means you may still have to pay for the “complete” program or the ability to use all the program options.
Third, if there is no charge for a program, the program may include software options that gather information about you, your computer, your surfing habits, etc. and then return this information to the company via the Internet. This is sometimes referred to as “Spyware” and can cause some real problems with your computer. When you use a program to eliminate the spyware on your computer, your “free” software program may no longer work.
Finally, if you are fairly computer literate, have no specific deadlines and know that a freeware program does not contain spyware, then, a freeware computer program can be a great bargain.

10. If you get a “Shareware” software program you need to know three things:
First, shareware is a software program that lets you try it out before you buy it. The author is “sharing” the program with you. If the computer shareware program does what you want it to do, then the author expects you to pay for it.
Many shareware programs allow you to use the program for a set period of time. After that period of time, the program (or at least some of the program options) will not continue to work. Don’t make the mistake of entering a lot of important data and then decide you “don’t want to pay” for the program. You could be left high and dry.
Finally, some shareware programs will continue to operate regardless of how long you use them. If you come to rely on a shareware computer program, it is wise to pay the author the nominal fee they usually request. This will help the author continue to develop and enhance the program. Besides, you’ll probably get support and help from the author if you need it.

11. Beware of companies that send you unsolicited emails offering “name brand” computer software at huge discounts. These are often overseas companies selling “illegal” software. You will not get support, but you could get a letter from the company’s lawyer telling you that you’re using a pirated copy of their software. Some people have even reported giving their credit card information to purchase these “great bargains” only to learn weeks later, they had paid for software they never got.

12. Last but not least, always order your computer software from a reputable online company. You’ll experience the best service, the best warranty and the best computer products available.

Link Building Software

by: Henry James

Link building is essentially a great tool for website promotion. The websites with higher link popularity are the favored ones by the major search engines during their ranking procedures. The number of quality websites linking to your website determines your link popularity. Suppose the number of sites linked to your site is 250. So, your link popularity is 250. You can improve your link popularity even further by adding more links to your website. This process of adding more links to a website is called link building. A link building software can readily assist you in this job.

Generally you will have to spend hours to find links and send link request emails to the websites. The software, however, makes the job much easier. And you can leave all the jobs of finding, creating and requesting the links to a link building software.

The software is manufactured by many leading software companies. Expert software engineers work through out the day to give you the best software. The software is easy-to-install with easy-to-follow instructions. You can set up the software at your personal computer and see the results yourself.

Many times the scarcity of the links drives you to go for their purchase. The links are sold as a package of 25, 100 or even 200 links. It is not always possible to purchase these expensive links all the time. So the link building software can come to your rescue in such cases and can save your dollars by finding appropriate sites for you.

You can enter the keywords related to your site and the software matches them to the other websites. You have a complete list of the websites in front of you with in a few minutes. This will ensure you a targeted traffic on your website in future.

The link building software also separates the websites offering a reciprocal linking. Reciprocal linking is the one where one website exchanges its link with the other website. This makes your link building task even easier. One of the most important features of this software is that the software sends an automated link requests to the sites offering reciprocal linking.

Another software known as Page link analyzing tool is also great to analyze the status of your links. You can get the timely reports of a link on your web page via this software. If the link is not placed properly, you can change the link to a place where it gets good Internet traffic. The link building software can also calculate the keyword density for a single page. You can use it for other websites to find out the number of keywords in a page. If the web page or the entire website has a good keyword density, the link will be added to your link directory. Also you will get to know the links that fail in driving the Internet traffic to your website.

You can order the software online as well. In fact some of the software can also be downloaded from the net for free. You also get a catalogue of devising a strategy for effective link building with this software. So, get the one now, for great Internet success.

Open Source Software(OSS) and It's Uses

by: scott morris

What is Open Source Software?

Open Source Software (OSS) is software that is available under a special license that allows everyone to access the program code as well as the executable program. This means that anyone is able to edit the program code and therefore customise the software for their own needs.

This ability to access the source code is protected by the license under which the software is released. There is a great many Open Source licenses, but they all have one thing in common, they protect the right of the user of the software to access and modify it in any way they desire.

This ability to modify applications is in direct contrast to the Closed Source Software model. In Closed Source only the creator of the application has access to the source code, and therefore, only the creator is able to modify the application.

Being able to change the way an Open Source Software application operates is critical in many business environments. No two businesses are identical and therefore it is unlikely that any one piece of software will satisfy the needs of all potential users. Without the ability to modify their software a company is restricted in its operations by that software.

While it is true that no two businesses are identical, it is also true that there are a great many common business practices that are repeated across organisations. These common practices can be well served by "standard" software. The remaining practices, those that are different from competitors are, typically, the ones that give a business an advantage in the marketplace.

Since these non-standard practices are key to the organisations success it is critical that any software solutions adopted by the company also support these non-standard processes. It is in this need to adapt software to a companies specific needs that makes Open Source Software attractive. Since the company has access to the source, the application can be freely adapted to suit the unique requirements of each user.

Who Pays for Open Source Development?

The ability to customise software is critical to allow an organisation to continue to improve their business processes, but how does a company afford to pay for such customisations?

One of the side effects of allowing any user access to the source code is that the cost of acquiring the software in the first instance is massively reduced. In most cases the source code is available for no cost. This enables the user to divert resources normally allocated to pay software license fees into enhancing the software.

A successful Open Source Software project has a large community of software developers. Many of these developers work as independent contractors and can be employed to customise the software, alternatively, if a company has internal developer resources, they can leverage those skills to perform the customisations.

Does it Really Work?

This all sounds fantastic, but does it really work? Are there Open Source Applications in use in the real world?

Here are a few facts to convince you that it most certainly does work:

- Around 70% of web sites are served by the Open Source Apache HTTPD server.

- In a 2002 survey it was found over 31% of UK and nearly 42% of German companies were using or planning to use OSS.

- In 2001, Debian (an Open Source Operating System), contained over 55 million lines of code and was estimated to have consumed over 14,000 person years in development time. That is a development cost of around 1.89 Billion Dollars (US) yet it is still available with no license fees.

Adware: How to Beat the Sneakiest Software

by: Joel Walsh

Promoters of adware, software that shows advertising on a user's computer, use some cunning tricks to get you to install their software on your machine.

Here's what to look out for.

Adware is, by definition, something reasonable people don't want on their computers. That's why malware can't just come out and ask people to install it.

Often, the computer owner is completely unaware of it being installed. But not always.

When adware doesn't want to sneak in through an open window, it will try to trick you into letting it in through the front door. Don't think you could be

tricked? Don't be so sure until you've checked out these most common ways people have been tricked into allowing malware to be installed on their machines.

Adware Installation Trick 1: Piggybacking

• How it works: malware may come bundled with a legitimate piece of software the user actually wants, such as a game or emoticon. The malware is

merely labeled "companion software," without any indication of what it will do.
• How to fight it: be very suspicious of any software that comes bundled with other software. Don't installed software that comes bundled with other

software unless you know everything that the bundled software does. After all, if the bundled program has anything to do with the program you actually want,

why couldn't the software developer just get both programs' functionalities into a single piece of software? Software developers are now very sensitive to

malware concerns and will provide a lengthy explanation of just why the bundled software is necessary, in the cases when they actually do need to use bundled

software.

Adware Installation Trick 2: Bait and Switch

• How it works: since people are getting more and more suspicious of bundled software, the malware's developers may simply label it as valuable

software, for instance, a browser plugin that supposedly accelerates web browsing (but in reality only shows ads).
• How to fight it: again, a suspicious mind is useful in avoiding malware. Ask yourself some questions:
o What will this software actually do? Malware often comes with very fuzzy claims attached. Sure, it says it will improve your browsing experience,

but how? Often, this improved browsing experience just means a browsing experience with more advertising.
o If the software is so great, why is it being given away free? Most commonly, software is only given out free in two cases: if it's OpenSource

(designed by a community of developers and not proprietary--OpenSource software is always clearly labeled as such); or simply a come-on for a fuller-featured

version of the software. If neither case is true, there's a real chance the software is financed by adware.

Adware Installation Trick 3: Outright Lying

• How it works: malware may even be labeled as something else entirely, such as a well-known piece of software or a crucial component of the computer

operating system.
• How to fight it: this is the trickiest malware of all, and requires extreme caution. You don't want to start deleting any of your program files,

much less your system registry entries, unless you're absolutely sure it's malware. Plenty of overzealous parasite hunters have shot their own machines to

bits this way. This is one case where you want to be using an anti-spyware program, and preferably a second anti-spyware program to provide a second

opinion.

Getting Rid of Adware

Adware is so tricky that trying to uninstall it by yourself could be like a trip into the Matrix. Luckily, there are good anti-spyware programs that tackle

adware as well--after all many adware programs are also spyware since they monitor your internet usage.
True, it may feel like adding insult to injury to have to install more software to get rid of software you never meant to install in the first place. But

sometimes you just have to fight fire with fire.

Computer Hardware Preventive Maintenance Software

by: Jennifer Bailey

Computers often break down at the worst of all times. These problems can be averted, or at least minimized with preventive maintenance. Several methods of keeping computer hardware in good working order deal with the external components of the computer, such as the keyboard and monitor. For example, it is important to keep the processor away from excess heat and moisture. There are also computer hardware preventive maintenance software programs that can help with the upkeep of other internal aspects of a computer.

While it is rare to find a CMMS that works on all of a computer’s hardware, many different programs can be utilized simultaneously. Some computers have periodic automatic updates available that can be downloaded and used to improve the computer’s performance. Other software programs, known as disk defragmenters, manage hard drive space so that software programs take less time to access. Programs known as hardware diagnostic utilities can check the computer’s hardware components and alert the user about any potential failures. Since some new hardware will not always work on all computers and could cause existing hardware to malfunction, it is important to have a CMMS program to ensure that the new hardware is compatible with existing hardware.

Antivirus programs are another important component of computer hardware preventive maintenance software. Computer viruses have become increasingly common in recent years and can render a good computer useless. While computer viruses mainly attack software programs, they can ruin hardware as well. Several manufacturers make reliable antivirus software. A couple of well-known companies are Norton and McAfee. As with much preventive maintenance software, these programs are usually available for a free trial period before the user must pay a subscription fee.

Computer hardware preventive maintenance software is necessary to keep computers in good working order. This software manages aspects of computer hardware that would be difficult and time-consuming for even the most computer savvy users.

The Importance of Physician Recruiting Software

by: Kent Pinkerton

Physician recruiting software serves two important purposes. It helps hospitals and health organizations find qualified doctors, and it provides physicians with leads that can help them find a place to practice medicine. Physician recruiting software is perfect for recruiters because it can feature extensive information on both the physicians looking for work and the organizations looking for doctors. This type of software can be used by professional recruiters, the human resources department of a hospital or the physicians looking for a practice.

Many types of physician recruiting software are available over the Internet. These kinds of programs are similar to employment websites in that they allow both hospitals looking to hire and doctors looking for work to post opportunities and browse other postings. Doctors looking for a practice can post information about themselves such as where they went to medical school, where they live, whether they are willing to relocate, and any specialties they may have. They can also browse through the health organizations and see if any of them sound like a good match for what they are looking for. The health organizations can post information about the type of doctors they are looking for and contact any physicians whose postings make them appear to be viable candidates.

Often, doctors and health organizations meet through a professional recruiter. These recruiters use physician recruitment software to find the best matches. The software used by the recruiters contains databases of health organizations and doctors and can be used to link doctors with compatible health organizations. The databases contain detailed information about where the job opportunities are, what the salary is, any special skills the health organizations are looking for, and many other criteria.

Physician recruiting software is a valuable tool that helps doctors find work and keeps hospitals and clinics fully staffed. Whether a professional recruiter is utilized or not, these programs are vital to the healthcare industry.

Data Recovery Software: At your Rescue

by: Gracy
* Feature Set
* Installation
* Effectiveness
* Search Capabilities
* Support Tools

Computers are an integral part of our lives. They are used at every juncture, and of course play a major role in businesses. In fact, the smooth working of small, medium, big and very big enterprises depend heavily on the computer. But they aren’t perfect, and it would be unfair to consider them as perfect.

Hence, as long as there is data, there would also be the fear of data loss.

If there is effective recovery system of that data, it could mean the judgment day for the precious information that you so carefully stored in your computer. At worst, it could mean the ruin of your business as well.

There are various data recovery methods, the best considered among them are Data Recovery Softwares. Data Recovery Software recovers deleted files and lost files, as well as formatted, damaged or corrupted data from the hard disk or data storage media.

Using data recovery software is no rocket science. So, it is advised that if you want to install one in your computer, it should have a user friendly design, robust feature set and efficient data recovery capability. Now the just mentioned terms are data recovery jargons that you need to know. They will help you in determining what software is best for you.

* Feature Set- Good data recovery softwares are equipped with tools that can retrieve valuable lost information from more than one source and provide support for drives and storage devices. This is known as a feature set.

You need to: look for software that has the above and also affords multi-file-system compatibility. You should preferably go for software that can retrieve data deleted from the recycle bin, hard drive or even those data which are lost due to accidents, like power cuts.

* Installation- Installing the data recovery software in the computer is what comes after choosing the right software. In a layman’s term, a good software is one that can be easily installed and even a novice user should not find it too tough to install such a software.

You need to: look for software that is user intuitive, which is, it should require minimum effort from your side. Look for data recovery software in which all instructions are clearly stated before you, and you just have to select your option. Let the program do the rest. Most superior data recovery softwares these days are user friendly.

* Effectiveness- An effective Data Recovery Software should be able to retrieve data and put it back to its original state.

You need to: look for data recovery software that is not only easy to use but effective as well. After all, what you need is your precious data retrieved.

* Search Capabilities- good data recovery softwares have higher searching capabilities.

You need to: simply look for software that would allow you to look for your data in various ways, for example-sort by name, date, size and keyword.

* Support Tools- They are one of the most essential elements of the software. They are basically the fall-back options if something goes wrong while installing the software. The more the support solutions, the better.

You need to: select software which answers all your queries and has a wide variety of questions to answer regarding the data recovery installation process.

Last, but certainly not the least, it is advised that you go for a reputed data recovery software company. After all, only you can understand the worth of your precious data.

CD ripper software

by: Mansi gupta
What it is CD ripper?

CD ripper software opens up a whole new world of opportunities in how you listen to music. With CD ripper software, you can take audio CD tracks and place them into audio files on your computer. These audio tracks can be saved as WAV, MP3, OGG, or WMA audio files. The term “ripping” is used to describe this process.

Newer, more advanced CD ripper software is also available that allows you to convert back and forth between these formats. In fact, some CD ripper software is now available that can record vinyl LP’s and cassettes to create WAV, MP3, OGG, or WMA audio files.

Where to get it.

A variety of CD ripper software is available online. Simply typing “CD ripper” into any search engine will bring up a wide variety of available CD ripper software. Most CD ripper software is extremely user friendly and offers a variety of options, but you should do some searching and comparing before deciding which CD ripper software is best for you.

What to look for.

Every type of CD ripper software had its own style and interface. Make sure the CD ripper software you choose is easy to use and to understand. It doesn’t matter how great the software is if you can’t utilize it to its fullest!

When exploring CD ripper software options, be sure to also check out the software’s editing abilities. With most CD ripper software programs, you can select the output format for you music. This includes the bitrate, channels, and frequency. The best CD ripper software will create high quality files by digitally matching the audio bit for bit.

Quality CD ripper software will also tag the encoded audio files with metadata. The metadata contains information about the artist, track number, song title, and album title. This will automatically be input into the WAV, MP3, OGG, or WMA audio file. Some CD ripper software programs will even search online for pictures of album covers and insert this as a thumbnail image next to the file.

Another perk to some CD ripper software is the ability to delete the silence at the beginning or end of tracks. Yet other CD ripper software programs will allow you to edit the songs themselves, giving you full control of the sound provided by your WAV, MP3, OGG, or WMA audio file.

For those traditionalists who still enjoy listening to their music from a CD, a CD ripper can be used to select your favorite songs to create a mixed CD. In fact, some CD rippers will allow you to rip audio tracks directly from a CD and burn them to a new CD, without ever having to save them as a new audio file.

With thousands of people ripping CD’s every day, CD ripping is definitely the wave of the future, and the best choice for music lovers everywhere. Why keep your music stationary on older format CDROMS, when you can rip the music, put it into your favorite mp3 player, and listen on the go?

We recommend Blaze Media Pro as the best, all-in-one audio and video software, including CD ripping and all the other features mentioned above.

Is that software really free?

by: Steve Blampied

If you search the 'net for "Free Software" you'll alway come up with links to the Free Software Foundation or something called a GNU, rather than software that doesn't cost anything.

You see, "Free Software" it doesn't always refer to software that is free of charge. It actually refers to the software being "Free" as in "Freedom" !

Just so that you understand the difference, here is the definition of free software from GNU.org

"A program is free software, for you, a particular user, if:

You have the freedom to run the program, for any purpose.
You have the freedom to modify the program to suit your needs. (To make this freedom effective in practice, you must have access to the source code, since making changes in a program without having the source code is exceedingly difficult.)
You have the freedom to redistribute copies, either gratis or for a fee.
You have the freedom to distribute modified versions of the program, so that the community can benefit from your improvements.
Since "free" refers to freedom, not to price, there is no contradiction between selling copies and free software.

In fact, the freedom to sell copies is crucial: collections of free software sold on CD-ROMs are important for the community, and selling them is an important way to raise funds for free software development. Therefore, a program which people are not free to include on these collections is not free software.

Because of the ambiguity of "free", people have long looked for alternatives, but no one has found a suitable alternative. The English Language has more words and nuances than any other, but it lacks a simple, unambiguous, word that means "free," as in freedom--"unfettered," being the word that comes closest in meaning. Such alternatives as "liberated", "freedom," and "open" have either the wrong meaning or some other disadvantage."

"Free Software" is often but not always free-of-charge but it does have other benefits. Often the software is written by people who are doing it for the challenge or simply because they enjoy writing it, or to solve a particular problem, and this approach can produce really useful programs without the usual commercial undercurrent.

Also because the source code is normally freely available it is also likely that many people from the software community will have had a hand in the creation or debugging of the finished article.

More information and a large quantity of Free Software is available from www.sourceforge.net

What is Preventive Maintenance Software?

by: Jennifer Bailey
Preventive Maintenance (PM) is defined as scheduled work done on a system to identify and fix any occurring issues before they become problems. The concept of preventive maintenance applies to many different industries. PM is often done on buildings, various types of machines, computers, institutions, as well as personal assets, including finances and property.

A common example of preventive maintenance is a car getting its oil changed. Usually, this is done when the car is in good working order to prevent any future problems resulting from the car running on old oil.

In the past, preventive maintenance was formed solely by personnel, but now computers manage much of the process. Computer programs can schedule the maintenance and send alerts to employees when work is needed. Another name for preventive maintenance software is computer maintenance management software (CMMS). These are software programs that allow users to identify and fix potential problems. Some common uses for preventive maintenance are healthcare facilities, computer hardware, correctional facilities, and personal assets.

Preventive maintenance software works in several ways, depending on what is being maintained, but most types of preventive maintenance software operate on the same principles. The main difference between types of preventive maintenance software for different industries is the asset or equipment being maintained. The core concept behind preventive maintenance for an automobile and a healthcare facility is generally the same. The difference is that an automobile’s engine must be kept in running order, while a healthcare facility’s equipment must be kept sterile.

The price range for preventive maintenance software varies depending on its use. Programs can cost about $60 for some personal asset software to several thousand for software used in correctional institutions. Although much of the scheduling of preventive maintenance is automatic and computerized, it is still important that people keep up with the physical aspects of the maintenance, such as replacing old parts and following the software’s recommendations.

Slow Windows Computer - How to Speed Up Your Computer and Make it Fly!

By David S Marshall

If your computer is running slow you need to know what is causing it and how to speed it up. You can do all this without having to call in a computer technician and be safe in the knowledge you are doing it properly.

Follow these 5 simple steps to so this and get your computer running at peak speed again.

#1 Remove temporary files. You can do this by running a disk cleanup which is part of windows. Disk clean up can be found under accessories on the start menu. These temporary files are used by program installation and can use several gigabytes of space. They can all be deleted safely.

#2 Remove all unwanted and unused programs. They can use a lot of your memory just sitting idle and if you have too many installed the available memory will decrease until the computer slows right down or you see a pop-up warning you of virtual memory errors. This error in English means there is not enough memory to run everything.

#3 Defragment the hard drive. The windows tool for this is in the same folder as the disk cleanup utility. This can take an hour or so if you have never run it before.

#4 Run Windows update. These will close any security holes in your computer and make sure any updates for windows are installed and can speed it up.

#5 Run a registry scan. This is the most important step if you are getting pop ups all over your screen and the computer is running slow. This step will highlight any entries for removed programs, inform you of any corrupt registry entries that can prevent windows from starting and will tell you if there are any malicious entries for spyware, adware or malware hiding in there.

If this last step finds any errors you can fix them with a click of a button. Following these steps will have your computer running like it is just out of the box again.

Make a free registry scan and protect your computer and yourself now.
